Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation

Sept. 25, 2021

The Walk to Remember will be virtual for 2021. It is a day for parents, families and friends to remember and celebrate those babies who are lost through miscarriage, stillbirths, Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), neonatal and infant death.

Date: Sept. 25, 2021
Registration for name remembrance: closed Sept. 11, 2021.

Virtual ceremony: 1:00 pm on Tiny Hands of Hope Facebook page.

Virtual walk time and location: After opening ceremonies, please go on your walk, wherever you choose to walk. Please ensure your own safety at all times.

Although the Walk will be virtual, you can take solace in the knowledge that we are together in spirit. “You are not alone. Too often, parents grieve and mourn in silence. We started this walk to allow our community to come together. It is a beautiful day when those often unspoken names can be read, remembered, openly talked about and shared,” explains Karen Gilkyson, founder of Tiny Hands of Hope.

Tiny Hands of Hope hosts this annual special event, which began in 2013. Proceeds from this event support the Parental Bereavement Program at your hospitals. The program empowers your frontline nursing staff to go above and beyond with the care they give a parent(s) who experiences the loss of a baby.

Please, support the Parental Bereavement Program by registering for the Walk to Remember, today. Sign up today.

Hear from your Nurses

The power of the Parent Bereavement Program is felt every day by your nursing staff and parents who call northwestern Alberta home. Working alongside Tiny Hands of Hope and the nurses to bring this program to your hospitals is a great honour for the Hospital Foundation. Thank you for your support.
